Wireless Body Area Networks

Casamassima Filippo from CuPiD lead member, University of Bologna attended the Body Sensor Networks Conference 2013 (BSN2013) in May in America.  At BSN2013 Casamassima presented a paper on Wireless Body Area Networks which demonstrates possible synchronization methods for CuPiD Sensor nodes.

KUL Meeting

Some of the consortium members gathered together in June, for a technical meeting to discuss the development and assess cognitive rehabilitation using exergaming. Partners were able to see the progress that has been made and discuss upcoming developments.

Sensors Product Specification

CuPiD consortium member EXEL have produced the EXLs1, wireless Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). EXLs1 is an inertial sensor based on MEMS technology and wireless communication (Bluetooth TM) made for motion measurement, acquisition and transmission. It features a complete IMU sensor set with full axis gyroscope, magnetometer, accelerometer, vibration sensor and temperature sensor.

International Society for Posture and Gait Research Annual Conference
This year’s International Society for Posture and Gait Research (ISPGR) annual conference takes place outside the EU, in Japan.

Running from 22nd June to 26th the ISPGR is one of the leading and highly relevant international conferences at which the CuPiD will be present.

Frankfurt Parkinson's disease Support Group Workshop

Dietmar Wessel held a workshop for the Frankfurt Parkinson's disease Support Group on behalf of CuPiD consortium member, Oxford Computer Consultants, on 19th January 2013. At the workshop, there was a presentation on the CuPiD project to about 20 people with Parkinson's disease. Three people in the audience had had PD for about 15 years and had shuffling gait but showed no real festinating signs.

CuPiD’s latest plenary meeting took place in Oxford, The City of Dreaming Spires. We met at the Said Business School, part of the famous University of Oxford, on the 10th and 11th July.

3D Analysis of Human Movement in Bologna, 18-20 July

On the 18-20 July, Bologna, Italy welcomes for the first time the bi-annual International Symposium on 3D Analysis of Human Movement. The 3D Analysis of Human Movement (official Technical Group of the International Society of Biomechanics) provides a forum for the discussion of all issues related to the measurement of human movement in three dimensions.

CuPiD Appearing at Pervasive Conferences

Delegates from ETH Zürich and TASMC have been busy attending two Pervasive conferences representing the CuPiD project.

Sinziana Mazilu from ETH Zürich gave a presentation on “Online Detection of Freezing of Gait with Smartphones and Machine Learning Techniques”, at Pervasive Health 2012, the 6th International Conference on Pervasive Computing Technologies for Healthcare.
